An Estate Agent’s Guide to Golders Green NW11
(Zone 3: Northern Line)
Founded as a medieval hamlet in the large parish of Hendon, Middlesex, Golders Green grew rapidly in the early part of the twentieth century in response to the opening of a tube station of the London Underground, adjacent to the Golders Green Hippodrome which was home to the BBC Concert Orchestra for many years. The area has a wide variety of housing and a busy main shopping street, Golders Green Road. One of the most fantastic Parks, Golders Hill Park, is a stone’s throw from the station and has several tennis courts, a mini zoo with a collection of native wild animals and birds, a coffee shop, band stand for evening concerts, fabulous children’s play area… an ideal place to get some quiet time!
Brent Cross shopping centre, the M1 motorway and the North Circular are all within minutes of central Golders Green. In addition, Temple Fortune with its wealth of independent shops and coffee shops as well as Marks & Spencer and Waitrose, offers an alternative shopping experience to Golders Green Road. Golders Green (and Temple Fortune) are known for its large Jewish population as well as for being home to the largest kosher hub in the United Kingdom, which means you’re never far from a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel!
